Why a Spit Roast Makes a Great Wedding Feast

Catering for your wedding is probably one of the biggest headaches there is and it can work out expensive. However, there is a great alternative and that is to hire a spit roast firm to feed your guests.

Now you may think that will never work for me and we can understand that being your first thought. Doubtless, you are thinking of the last spit roast you attended. The chances are that you enjoyed it are a bit worried that it may not really be suitable for your wedding.

Works for a formal or informal wedding

This is especially the case if you want to hold a relatively formal wedding. In all likelihood, you have only seen a spit roast served informally as part of a help yourself buffet, and are assuming that is the only way it can be done. This is understandable, but in reality could not be further from the truth.

A good hog roast caterer will happily provide waiting staff. This gives you the chance to have the meal served formally at the table.

A long list of menu options

When most people think of a hog roast they assume that it has to be served as pulled meat in baps. This is a very popular and delicious way to serve a hog roast, but it is far from the only way to do it.

The meat can be cooked and flavoured in a range of ways, which means the flavour of the meat itself can be adapted to match the tastes of most people.

Different sauces or gravies can be used to give the meal the flavour or cuisine style that you want your guests to experience. Roasted pork can be served sliced as part of a formal roast, pulled with modern side dishes, cold with a salad or in a variety of different ways.

Serve other roasted meats

However, the choice does not stop there. If you do not want to serve pork to your guests, you do not have to. Modern spitting pig hogroast machines can be set up to roast practically any dish. If you want to serve your guests roast lamb, beef, turkey or chicken instead that is not a problem because you can. It is possible for more than one meat to be cooked at the same time, making it easy to serve your guests a choice of meals.

A great option for a late evening snack

Another great alternative is to get the best of both worlds. You can serve your guests a formal sit down meal when they arrive for the reception and serve a hog roast in the evening.

Also, if you did order a hog roast as your main meal option there is likely to be a fair amount left over. There is a lot you can do with leftover pork. For example, it can be sliced up, stored in a fridge and served later in the evening as sandwiches or as part of a buffet.
