Have a nosey at the new Alice + Olivia spring 2013 collection and get ready for a high dose of late-1950s optimism with rich colors, eye-catching prints, and ladylike silhouettes!
Okay, so are you ready to satisfy all your sartorial cravings with a high dose of optimism, femininity and cutesy? We certainly are! So, we came across the latest Alice + Olivia spring 2013 collection and fell in love at first sight. “I started with the whole concept of going back to the American dream,” designer Stacey Bendet said. “I wanted a return to optimism and feeling good.”
The collection, oozing a special ’50s-inspired flare, features an array of flirty pieces, ladylike silhouettes and a beautiful parade of vibrant colors. “I tried to just create an unexpected element to each more literal aspect of the ’50s,” Bendet explained. “I made the corsets sexy, and I went back to full skirts. I [featured] embroidery, rich colors, leather jackets, and leather shift dresses.”
The Alice + Olivia collection is always a breath of fresh air and brings, season after season, a cool approach to chic day dressing. Using her love of culture, music, art and vintage fashion, Stacey creates some really incredible and unique goodies. The designer admits she is inspired by all the women around her, from her mother to her daughter to her friends. Regardless the time of the day, whether she wants to look sexy or sweet, going to the office or dressing for an evening out, Bendet knows what the Alice + Olivia girl wants.
“As a designer today, part of my job is to pick a trend and to design the clothes,” she said. “But I also need to create a way for my customers to be individuals.”
For spring 2013, imagine a wide range of oh-so-chic and ladylike pieces, full-skirt silhouettes, corsets, bustiers and sexy cropped pants. Also, think pretty dresses and red-carpet-worthy gowns! Go bold with eye-catching prints as well as with a kaleidoscope of colors inspired by the work of artist Ilya Bolotowsky. Absolutely fabulous! There are pops of brights but also polka dots, leopard prints, sophisticated stripes, and lovely flowers. “There is a little humor in everything,” Bendet said.
