What Size Shoes Do I Wear? How to Find the Best Fit for Your Feet

What size shoe do I wear? Just because you can get your foot into a shoe doesn’t mean it fits. Here’s how to find the best fit for your feet.

What Size Shoes Do I Wear? How to Find the Best Fit for Your Feet

You’ve always had a problem, and that problem has always been with footwear. Simply put, you can’t seem to find shoes that fit comfortably. In fact, it’s gotten so bad that you’ve resorted to curling up in the fetal position and murmuring to yourself, “what size shoe do I wear?”

But you needn’t worry any longer. We’re here to help you. Here’s how to find the best fit for your feet.

Trace Your Foot on a Piece of Paper

First, grab a piece of paper. Then, place your foot on top of it. Once it’s fully on top of the paper, take a pen or a pencil and trace around your foot in its entirety.

Note: if you wear your shoes without socks, trace your foot without a sock on; if you wear your shoes with socks, trace your foot with a sock on.

Find the Edges of the Foot

Once your foot tracing has been created, you’re going to want to find its edges. To do this, draw a straight line on each edge.

Start with the big toe. Then, the widest part of the right side of the foot. Then, the heel. Then the widest part of the left side of the foot.

Measure!

Now that you’ve drawn lines at the edges of your traced foot, you need to measure various dimensions. Begin with the heel and measure to the big toe. Then, measure from the widest part of the right side of the foot to the widest part of the left side of the foot.

Then, subtract approximately 3/16 of an inch from each measurement. This will produce the correct length and width of your foot, allowing you to buy from a remote place, like a sneaker website.

Consult the Size Chart

You’ve found the inch measurements for both foot length and foot width. Now, it’s time to consult the size chart and see which size shoe fits best. Use the following measurements for men’s shoe sizes:

  • Size 4 Shoe = approximately 8 3/16 inches in length
  • Size 4.5 Shoe = approximately 8 5/16 inches in length
  • Size 5 Shoe = approximately 8 11/16 inches in length
  • Size 5.5 Shoe = approximately 8 13/16 inches in length
  • Size 6 Shoe = approximately 9 inches in length
  • Size 6.5 Shoe = approximately 9 3/16 inches in length
  • Size 7 Shoe = approximately 9 5/16 inches in length
  • Size 7.5 Shoe = approximately 9 1/2 inches in length
  • Size 8 Shoe = approximately 9 11/16 inches in length
  • Size 8.5 Shoe = approximately 9 13/16 inches in length
  • Size 9 Shoe = approximately 10 inches in length
  • Size 9.5 Shoe = approximately 10 3/16 inches in length
  • Size 10 Shoe = approximately 10 5/16 inches in length
  • Size 10.5 Shoe = approximately 10 1/2 inches in length
  • Size 11 Shoe = approximately 10 11/16 inches in length
  • Size 11.5 Shoe = approximately 10 13/16 inches in length
  • Size 12 Shoe: approximately 11 inches in length

Note, foot width/shoe width compatibility is based more on feel. However, there are proper designations available. For more information on them, follow this chart. if you wear your shoes without socks, trace your foot without a sock on; if you wear your shoes with socks, trace your foot with a sock on
